Q & A with Rebecca

How did you get into financial services?

I moved into financial services in 2016, when a friend invited me to join their company and help with operations. It was a career I had never considered before, but I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed the variety and the opportunity to make things work better for both clients and colleagues. Before that, I worked in the gambling sector progressing through a number of roles to lead the VIP department. Along the way, I studied an MBA through the Open University distance learning and gained valuable experience in fast-paced, technology-led businesses. Most importantly, it gave me a strong understanding of clients, colleagues and stakeholders and how to bring people with you when things are moving quickly. I joined Insight in December 2022.

What does your role involve?

Making sure our systems and processes are efficient, secure and give the business the strongest possible foundation for delivering excellent client outcomes.

A lot of your work happens behind the scenes. How does it make a difference to our clients?

Making sure our clients receive the best possible service is at the heart of my role. Much of the Operations Team’s work happens behind the scenes, but clients experience the difference through a service that feels smooth, reliable and genuinely supportive.

What part of the Operations Team’s work are you most proud of?

I’m especially proud of our Client Support Team. Seeing people grow in confidence, support one another and continually raise the bar is incredibly rewarding. We work as one team, always focused on achieving the best outcomes for our clients and colleagues.

How do you balance efficiency with keeping Insight’s service personal and human?

It starts with recognising the trust clients place in us. We balance efficiency with a personal approach by treating every client as an individual and delivering the kind of thoughtful service we would want to receive ourselves.

More about Rebecca

Technology is changing financial services quickly. What opportunities are you most excited about?

I’m excited by technology that makes financial services simpler, clearer and easier to use. The best innovations remove friction without losing the human touch, benefiting clients, advisers and colleagues alike.

What’s your personal financial freedom dream?

Owning a boat. The freedom to head off, explore new places and enjoy life at a slower pace sounds pretty perfect.

Tell us about something you’ve done for a colleague, your community or a charity that matters to you.

Before Covid, I volunteered with Samaritans in Spain. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, and sometimes simply having someone there to listen can make a real difference, especially in a world that can feel lonely.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever spent money on?

Holidays. The memories, experiences and time with the people I care about are always worth it.

What’s the one luxury you could never give up?

Eating out,  I love good food, good company and discovering somewhere new.

Tip for my younger self

Start saving earlier and make it a habit. Small, consistent steps really do add up over time.
