Careers at Insight

Some of our people have been with Insight for more than 20 years. Others joined as interns or trainees and have built their careers here.

A place to make a difference.

We built Insight to be a place where you can do work that makes a positive difference in people’s lives. It’s a place where you can keep learning and developing your skills. We support you when you need it, trust you to use your judgement and give you the opportunity to further your career.

Established in 2004, Insight now has 174 people across five offices.

Find your place.

People join us at many different career stages.

You could be taking your first steps into financial services, working towards becoming an adviser or bringing years of experience with you.

Financial advisers.

There are several routes into financial advice at Insight.

Trainees can start in our Client Support team and complete the exams needed for their diploma through a company-funded, two-year training programme. From there, they can progress into our Adviser Academy.

Experienced advisers join a team where they can share their knowledge, learn from colleagues and continue developing their careers.

Client Support.

Client Support works closely with our advisers and clients, helping prepare for meetings, organise the work that follows and keep everything running day to day.

We provide training as part of the role, with opportunities to progress into senior and specialist support positions. Client Support is also the starting point for people following our trainee financial adviser route.

Operations.

Our Operations teams include people working in business management, HR, compliance, finance, technology, marketing and data.

They solve problems, improve how we work and provide the support that keeps the wider business running.

Catherine Smith

A client support team leader, Catherine also provides client support for Anthony Howard, one of Insight's directors.

22 years!

As Client Support for one of our directors, Antony Howard, I spend a lot of time organising and planning. Antony and I usually meet weekly to discuss what’s required for upcoming client meetings, then identify any post-meeting actions.

During the week, I book meetings, liaise with clients, manage Antony’s diary and prepare reports. As a team leader, I also host team meetings and am the go-to person for questions within the team.

The people! I’ve worked here a long time, so the Client Support team is like a big family. It’s been great to see so many people progress in their careers.

I also love building long-term relationships with clients and knowing that we’re supporting their financial security.

All training is provided as part of the role, although it’s helpful to have some experience in a similar position.

You need to be able to work well to deadlines, be organised and be willing to learn.

Stuart Green

Stuart Green Stuart first was our first trainee financial adviser. He’s since completed his adviser qualifications.

I started at Insight in 2015 as an intern while at university, then joined full-time in 2019.
I was the first trainee financial adviser at Insight, so I worked in a Client Support role while undertaking my financial adviser qualifications. I was able to complete the course in 15 months as it was during lockdown, so I had plenty of study time!

Most weeks are split between being on the road visiting clients and being in the office completing paperwork and preparing for client reviews.

Having the chance to talk to clients, build long-term relationships and help them achieve their financial goals.

Do it! It’s a rewarding job. If more people knew about it, there would probably be many more financial advisers.

Amy Dunkinson

As a people manager, Amy works across recruitment, development, employee relations and wellbeing.

One year and four months.

A Level 5 or Level 7 CIPD qualification and relevant experience in a similar role.

I enjoy the variety. No two days are the same.

I find it rewarding to help people and businesses succeed, and to see growth as a result of my work.

Every week is different. HR touches every stage of the employee lifecycle, from attracting talent and providing a great employee experience to training, development, employee relations, engagement, wellbeing, social initiatives and so much more!

Take every opportunity to ask questions, shadow experienced HR professionals and learn on the job.

Gaining practical experience across different HR areas and industries helps build the knowledge, resilience and adaptability needed to succeed in any organisation.
