Q & A with Lewis

How did you get into financial services?

I have always had a strong interest in investment planning, alongside a genuine enjoyment of working with people. Financial planning felt like the perfect fit, allowing me to combine both; helping clients make informed decisions while building meaningful, long-term relationships. I joined Insight in July 2025.

Prior to this, I worked as a physiotherapist for six years, specialising in musculoskeletal conditions. While I found the role rewarding and valued the client interaction, I felt drawn to a career where I could support people in a different way; helping them achieve greater financial clarity, confidence, and long-term security.

What are your areas of expertise?

My areas of expertise include retirement planning and building tax-efficient income strategies. I work closely with clients to help them understand their options, structure their finances effectively, and create sustainable income plans that support their lifestyle both now and in the future.

What do you love helping clients with?

I love helping clients take the complexity out of their finances, giving them clarity and confidence so they can focus on living the life they want.

In particular, I enjoy working with clients to build strong, well-structured investment portfolios and implement effective tax planning strategies; helping them work towards financial independence, the option to retire earlier, and the freedom to enjoy life on their terms.

Lewis' golden nugget

The value of financial advice goes far beyond picking investments. It’s about having a clear, long-term plan and the discipline to stick to it. Successful investing isn’t about trying to time the market, it’s about time in the market, staying focused on your goals and avoiding short-term decisions that can undermine long-term success.

More about Lewis

What advice have you given that helped a client and made you proud?

Helping a client realise they could afford to retire earlier than they had expected is a moment that really stands out. By carefully restructuring their investments and designing a tax-efficient income strategy, we gave them the confidence to step away from work and spend more quality time with their family. Seeing that shift, from uncertainty to excitement about the future, was incredibly rewarding.

What’s your personal financial freedom dream?

For me, it’s being able to enjoy life’s simple moments without hesitation, like taking family and friends out for a great meal and not having to think twice about the bill. It’s about having that sense of ease and generosity and being able to share those moments freely.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever spent money on?

The best thing I’ve ever spent money on is travelling. It’s something that gives you experiences and memories that stay with you for life. I’ve always valued seeing new places and different cultures, and I currently have a safari in Tanzania planned for later this year, something I’m really looking forward to.

Tell us about something you’ve done to help your community / raise money for charity.

Each year I volunteer at our local village fete with my family, it’s a great way for us to give back, support local causes, and be part of something that brings the whole community together.

What’s the one luxury you could never give up?

Coffee and cake. I’m fairly disciplined during the week, but I’ll never pass up a great coffee and a proper slice of cake at the weekend.

Tip for my younger self

Don’t try to be Warren Buffett. You don’t need to pick obscure individual shares to achieve strong long-term growth. A well-diversified, consistent investment approach is often far more effective, and far less stressful.
