Q & A with Andrew

How did you get into financial services and when did you join Insight?

I came across an advert for a role in financial services while working in recruitment. It looked interesting, so I decided to give it a go, and I’ve never looked back. I joined Insight in 2023.

And what did you do before?

I spent a few years working in storage facilities in London in my early twenties. I then returned to Kent and moved into recruitment before making the transition into financial services.

What are your areas of expertise?

Holistic financial planning. I’ve worked across estate planning, protection and financial advice since entering the industry nine years ago, which has given me a broad understanding of how the different areas of a client’s financial life fit together.

What do you love helping clients with?

There’s no better feeling than working towards something with a client and seeing them achieve it. Whether it’s retiring, helping their family or simply feeling more comfortable about their finances, I enjoy helping clients do the things they want to do.

Andrew's golden nugget

Financial advice is about much more than products and investments. Those are simply tools we use to help achieve a bigger objective. The real value is having a plan that helps you do the things you want to do in life, while making sure your money can support you along the way.

Excellent!

Excellent service. They’re incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Made a big difference for me.

More about Andrew

What’s your personal financial freedom dream?

I think these things change over time, which is one of the reasons ongoing financial reviews are so important. Right now, being able to provide my children with everything they need (and the things I’d like to give them) without having to worry about how to fund it would be all the financial freedom I could ask for.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever spent money on?

A Sleep Consultant for my youngest, you actually can’t put a price on a good night’s sleep!

What’s something colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

I once started training to become a Special Constable with the Metropolitan Police, but decided it wasn’t for me before completing the training, partly due to some long-term issues with my legs. I’ve since found that financial advice is much better suited to my strengths- particularly the ability to sit down for a living!

Tip for my younger self

Invest more into my pension. The earlier you start, the more time your investments have to grow, and the benefit of compounding can make a significant difference over the long term.
